Cuban food is bursting with layers of flavor, but upon accepting an Orthodox Jewish way of life the challenge was to incorporate the foods of Genie's youth into her new lifestyle. 

Set in 1492 in Portugal the Jewish world is undergoing big changes. When the Edict of Expulsion from Spain was introduced in Spain, Leah's family, and Leah herself, did everything in their power to be helpful. But this came at great personal expense. 

A compelling work of historical fiction that engages the reader to follow the story of a family from the burning Pyres of the Spanish Inquisition to a young Cuban Catholic girl in Miami, Florida whose soul was ablaze with a desire to return to its' rightful place among the Jewish people.

The volume’s collection of essays span political and social interactions throughout history, cultural commonalities, traditions, and halakhic developments. Historians, anthropologists, musicologists, Rabbinic scholars, Arabists, and linguists analyze this culture, in all its complexity and hybridity. 

Having been brought up in a Roman Catholic family in Havana, Cuba and descending from Spanish ancestry did not ensure that her life would be lived within that realm. In response to strong feelings and an affinity towards Judaism , her search for her family’s past , took on a deeper significance as she researched her maternal lineage and not only discovered but documented and verified her Pre-Inquisition Spanish Roots to Fifteenth Century Spain and Portugal. 

Scholars and experts from diverse fields came together in London and Cambridge in August 2023 to unravel the complexities of Aden's cultural mosaic, shedding light on the interconnectedness of global trade routes, migration patterns, and the dynamic interplay of different societies.
